1. What uk.cars is
uk.cars is a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace. We connect people who want to rent a car ("drivers") with local people who list their own cars ("partners"). uk.cars is not a rental company and does not own the vehicles listed on the site.
2. Eligibility
Drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a full valid driving licence, and complete our driver verification (licence and mobile number) before paying for a trip. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
3. Bookings and payment
A booking is confirmed once payment has gone through and, where the partner reviews requests manually, once the partner approves it. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT. The trip total includes the daily rate, a 12% trip fee, and any optional refundable-rate upgrade, all shown before you pay.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Every booking can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of booking. On the refundable rate, you can cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before the trip starts. If a partner declines your request, you are refunded in full automatically.
5. Using the car
You must follow the partner's rules of the road shown on each listing, return the car on time and in the condition you received it, and stay within the included mileage (200 miles per day; extra miles are charged at 30p per mile). Smoking is not permitted in any car on uk.cars.
6. Insurance
Every trip includes comprehensive insurance and 24/7 UK breakdown cover at no extra cost. Driving a booked car outside the booked dates or by an unapproved driver voids this cover.
7. Partners
Partners must own (or be authorised to list) the cars they publish, keep listings accurate, keep the car roadworthy with a valid MOT, and respond to booking requests within 8 hours.
8. Liability
The rental agreement for each trip is between the driver and the partner. uk.cars provides the marketplace, payment processing and insurance arrangement, and is not liable for the condition of vehicles beyond what law requires.
